Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from erectile dysfunction. I am 36 years old. I have used Sildenafil tablets for over eight months, and right now, I find it difficult to have an erection, and when I have one, it does not last long. I have been having issues with erection for the past four years. I used some medications and a skater herb as I am studying and not always around my wife.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Erection problems can be due to lifestyle factors like taking alcohol, smoking, or being overweight. It may also be due to any major illness or some medicines. Often it can be due to stress or anxiety or blood abnormalities for which you need to do blood tests such as:

  1. Hb (hemoglobin).
  2. TC (total count).
  3. DC (differential count).
  4. Fasting blood sugar.
  5. Prolactin.
  6. TSH (thyroid stimulation hormone).
  7. Testosterone.

Walking half an hour daily will help. For example, if you are in an office job, get up from your chair every half hour and walk around for 5 minutes. It will help circulation in the penis.

Some couples practice a fertile period or ovulation method for sex, which stresses the partner by turning a pleasurable activity into a task, which leads to an erection problem. However, it can be overcome easily if they forget the ovulation time and have sex all through the month whenever possible.

Blood tests will help determine the cause, and taking only Sildenafil is ineffective. You will need dopaminergic medicines too.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
