Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am unable to get a specific diagnosis for the symptoms listed. They are worsened upon overexertion and stress. I do not drink or smoke. I am unable to sleep because of it.

Please help, doctor.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

1. Unfortunately, you have not listed the symptoms. The only fact mentioned by you is worsening upon overexertion and stress. It is not possible to comment on this.

2. I suggest you mention all the symptoms and problems you face in detail in a follow-up to this query. That will help me in concluding.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the response.

The symptoms are generalized tremors (feels like vibrations and a jerking sensation) all over my body. It is Worsened by overexertion and stress with occasional pain in the cervical region of the spine. Vibrations are constant and do not go away with anything. I cannot sleep because of them. I have had it for over two years now. My hands have also begun to shake slightly at rest—no history of trauma. I have hypertension and chronic venous insufficiency.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

1. I gather from your remarks that you have a feeling of tremulousness and vibrations, at times tremors in both hands. These increase with anxiety, and you cannot sleep because of it.

2. The way you have described this does not fit in with a single common etiology. The closest one can imagine essential tremors. However, many points are against it, like the inability to sleep because of jerks and the presence of vibrations constantly associated with stress and anxiety, and insomnia (inability to sleep).

3. I am sure you must have visited doctors for this with no definite conclusion.

4. The root cause may be elsewhere. It is either severe anxiety, or you will be able to conclude if you look at the stressing factors for you. You will require medication for this anxiety and stress. I suggest you take (consult with a specialist doctor, talk with him or her, and take medicine with their consent) tablet Propranolol CR 80 mg once a day may be a good starting point. At the same time, relaxation techniques, tackling the immediate stress factors in your life, a good exercise program, and regular hours will help you. The anxiety and stress need to be tackled first.

Take care.
