Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 49 years old male. I have been experiencing eye flashes that occur most in the morning for 15 days. Once in 2 hours a day in the left eye. It lasts for half a second. An eye test was done, and no retinal problem. I have severe OCD and was on antidepressants in the past. The doctor recommended the Ocugold Plus tablet. But it caused limb swelling, so I stopped it.

I felt numbness in my fingers at night for 1 Year.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Flashes appear due to traction of the vitreous on the retina, which is an age-related condition. With age, the vitreous (gel in the eye) becomes liquified. During this process, it may pull the retina where the vitreous is firmly adherent to the retina. This pull causes flashes. There is nothing to worry about, but yes, retina examination is a must, and if you feel anything suspicious, like the sudden loss of peripheral vision or the sudden appearance of multiple floaters, immediately rush to a retina specialist. There is no medicine for these flashes. They will resolve as soon as the vitreous is detached from the retina.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
