Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am experiencing skin problems on both sides of my jawline. It started after I used a rejuvenating skincare set, and now the area feels irritated and unsettled. I do not know which products would be safe or helpful to heal my skin. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Based on your description, it seems you may be experiencing an acneiform eruption, which is a skin condition that closely resembles acne but is not considered traditional acne. It typically appears as small red bumps, pimples, or pustules, often affecting areas like the face, chest, or back. Several factors can trigger this condition, including certain medications, hormonal changes, irritating skincare products, or physical friction and pressure on the skin, such as from wearing helmets or masks. Unlike regular acne, acneiform eruptions often develop suddenly and usually do not involve blackheads or whiteheads.

In your case, it could be related to a reaction from the rejuvenating set you used or possibly due to hormonal imbalances. Certain skincare products can sometimes disrupt the skin's natural barrier, leading to irritation, clogged pores, and breakouts along sensitive areas like the jawline.

To help improve your skin condition, I recommend the following treatment options:

  1. Tablet Minocycline 500 mg, taken orally three times a day for one week. This is an antibiotic that can help reduce bacterial overgrowth and inflammation.

  2. Topical two percent Resorcinol applied once daily for a month to help exfoliate the skin and reduce clogged pores.

  3. Topical 0.1 percent Tretinoin applied twice daily, alternatively for a month. Tretinoin is a retinoid that helps promote cell turnover and clear blocked follicles.

  4. A 20 percent Azelaic acid cream applied once daily for a month can also help to reduce redness, inflammation, and pigmentation issues.

  5. Five percent Dapsone gel is applied once daily for a month, known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects on acne-like conditions.

Kindly consult your doctor and take medicines accordingly.

It is very important to be consistent with whichever topical treatment you choose and to apply sunscreen daily, as many of these medications can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Also, please avoid using any harsh or irritating skincare products while on treatment.

If the symptoms persist, worsen, or if you have additional concerns, I highly recommend following up with me. This will allow me to better monitor your progress and adjust the treatment plan if necessary.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
