Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
On the lower part of my face (beard area) and at the temple area I get red boils. It has been happening for the last two years. I use Nuforce-GM cream and then they go off but keep coming back. I am a bit obese, age 41, height is 5 feet 7 inches and weight is about 209 lbs, and a software engineer (most of the time sitting on a computer chair). last time I conducted a complete body test, everything was normal - except for a little bit of high cholesterol level, sugar level, and deficiency of vitamin D (due to working from home). I take two revital per day and four tablets of fish oil per day (for immunity and general health). I was suggested to use Nuforce-gm and Quadriderm - and then it used to go off, but it kept recurring. Also sometimes these boils appear behind the head (upper rear neck). Please suggest a permanent treatment (a combination of tablets and cream might be the best suggestion). Also, please share some insights if it is a skin infection or if it has got to do something with sugar levels. I have used low GI sugar for the last four years, to keep low sugar levels.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand your concern. This is called folliculitis barbae. So I suggest you do not trim your hair very close to your skin and apply an antiseptic after every hair trim.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Sometimes there are many boils, and lesions that come out in the beard area. Can you tell me which antiseptic to use? Can you suggest to me any oral medicine or tablet to use? As a man, I get my beard shaved, almost once every month or more. Please shed light on this. Should I continue to use Nuforce-GM?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I suggest you use any OTC (over-the-counter) antiseptic available.
