How can I get treatment for my hirsutism?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a female, and I have an issue with excessive hair growth on my face. I used the razor to shave my facial hair three months back. I am currently using an Eflornithine Hydrochloride cream.

Please suggest me some home remedies for the reduction of excessive hair growth.

Hello,

Your search for all your healthcare needs ends here at icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and will definitely help you regarding the issue.

Firstly, I suggest you do not use a razor on the face, as the hair will grow more dense and thick. If you feel the need, you can also have your face waxed.

The cream you are applying is for reducing hair growth. I suggest you apply Eflornithine Hydrochloride (topical ointment for reduction of unwanted facial hair in women) cream twice a day for at least eight hours between two applications. Apply the cream to the affected areas, and make sure to rub it in thoroughly. If needed, you may wash the cream off four hours after applying. I suggest you continue using Eflornithine Hydrochloride cream until you find improvements, which are usually seen after four to eight weeks of treatment. However, the hair growth will return to its pretreatment state once you stop applying this cream for a longer period.

I hope this has helped you.

Please follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
