Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had a chin implant about two weeks ago. However, after about a week, I noticed that the shape of the implant was showing through the skin on my left side. Also, I could feel that the implant was tilted to the right side. So I contacted my surgeon, who told me to come into the office the following day. When I got into their office, I asked him why this happened, but he just told me that the soft tissue was stuck to the implant. He did not give me a clear explanation. He then proceeded to reopen the incision on my chin to fix the problem. The whole time I was awake, it was truly gruesome. Once he was done, he told me to come back in a week, and if the problem was not fixed, I would have to go back to remove the implant. Even after that procedure, I can still see a dent in my left side and feel the implant tilted, so I know for sure that I will have to remove it. I need a second opinion. Will I have a scar after this? Was this negligence of the surgeon? What else can I do? I am desperate. Need help with this situation.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Sorry to hear about the problem you are facing. Usually, as described chin implant is a very simple procedure. You must understand that every human's response to an implant may vary. The problem you are facing is not negligence on the part of your surgeon, and believe me, and no one wants an unhappy patient or a client. Every surgeon does what is best in their experience to give their patient the best results, but only some things are in their control. I suggest you trust your surgeon and follow his advice sincerely; they will help you overcome this hurdle. Often such dents can be corrected with either massage or filling with fat or redo surgery after a gap of six months minimum. Let your surgeon decide what is best for you. If he is a board-qualified plastic surgeon, he should be able to handle it very well. If you need any help from my end, I shall be honored.

Thank you.
