Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 29-year-old married woman, and I have a small child. I attended a marriage function 17 years ago and fainted in front of the crowd due to tiredness which was an awkward moment for me. After that, I am always scared to faint again in front of the crowd. When I am in a crowded area, I feel that I will soon faint. My heart rate increases, my mouth becomes dry, and I have difficulty breathing. Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

According to the symptoms you described, it appears that you are suffering from claustrophobia, but it needs detailed evaluation and treatment. You might need counseling and medications to feel better. Meanwhile, I suggest you modify your thought process and think positively whenever you face such situations. Assure yourself that this fear is temporary and will subside soon. Take deep breaths and count from 100 to zero in the reverse way when you feel that your heart rate is pounding up.
