Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21 year old female. Two days ago, I flossed between the lower central incisors and they have a tight contact area. After flossing I have pain in gingiva over that area. I do not usually floss. This was the first time. What could be the reason? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Flossing is a very good technique to keep the interdental area clean. I appreciate your efforts to maintain good oral hygiene. There are proper techniques that have to be followed while flossing. There are lots of possibilities that you can get your soft tissues hurt. If you are not able to follow proper techniques, then you have other interdental cleaning aids such as interdental brushes and power floss. You can try either of them, which would be much easier for you to use. Now that your soft tissues are hurt, kindly allow it to heal.

Thank you.
