Medical Conditions - Frictional Keratosis

Frictional keratosis is a benign white lesion of the oral mucosa that occurs due to irritation caused by sharp edges of teeth, dental prosthesis, teeth brushing, and abrasive foods. It occurs most often on the buccal mucosa, lips, lateral margins of the tongue, and edentulous alveolar ridges. They appear as diffuse white plaques on the affected region. It is usually non-cancerous and can be treated by reducing the use of etiological factors causing it.
