Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 20-year-old male. For a few months now, I have had a rash on my groin that has persisted and is red and itchy. I tried Sudo crem to treat it, and it dried it up and was less sore, but the rash still did not go. I used over-the-counter Hydrocortisone cream, and within the first few days, it improved, and the redness was going. I continued using it, and then the rash came back, and it got worse. I do not know what to do nothing seems to be working for me. Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Fungal infections are the most common skin problem, especially in body folds like the groin. In active young males, people wearing tight-fitting clothes and people with excessive sweating usually get recurrent episodes. However, Hydrocortisone is a steroid and is not indicated in fungal infections. It usually tends to suppress the inflammatory response but does not affect the fungus, thus tending to produce more aggressive relapses.
Kindly upload appropriate images to help us confirm the diagnosis. I suggest you stop the steroid cream as it tends to change the picture of the lesions until a final diagnosis arrives.
I hope this helps.
Regards.
