Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My daughter is two years old and has a fungal infection around her anal area. The area seems to be dry and scaling. What could it be?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
I understand your concern. It may be due to perianal dermatitis. Maintaining hygiene and avoiding irritation are important. Clean the area with warm water, especially after every stool passage. Avoid excessive rubbing or using dry tissue. Tap dry the area and do not rub. Keep the area clean and dry. Wear soft clothes. Avoid spicy foods for babies. If possible, avoid diapers, especially fragrant ones. Frequently change diapers. Use the right-fitting ones. See that there is adequate ventilation. Avoid harsh soaps and irritant cleansers. You can apply topical diaper rash cream after changing every diaper. If it persists or worsens, consult your dermatologist for further examination and management.
I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
