Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a gall bladder removal surgery two years ago and I feel discomfort in the right upper abdomen area always. What could be the reason?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. I have seen your reports and they are absolutely normal (attachment removed to protect patient's identity). I suggest you have an ultrasound abdomen and particularly look for the liver texture, gall bladder stump which is something left after the removal of the gall bladder, and the common bile duct, the duct which carries the bile from the liver to the small intestine. Sometimes the stones can form in the common bile duct, and cause a similar kind of pain as you had when you had gall bladder-related symptoms. Was your gall bladder removed because of stones? A few more things can explain your symptoms if not among the above three possibilities. One such is ulcer pain in the stomach and functional problems with the movement of your stomach. for both of the later conditions, I want to prescribe you some medications, in order to see if they help your symptoms. I suggest taking:

1. Tablet. Levosulpiride (Levosulpiride and Rabeprazole) 50 mg twice daily half an hour before meals.

2. Tablet. Vonaprazon (Vorolazan fumarate and a substituted β-cyclodextrin) 20 mg once daily, both for two weeks.

Get an ultrasound abdomen and let me know then. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the prompt reply. I will speak with my GP to refer me to my surgeon who removed my gallbladder related to stones. I also experience something like a stop when I lay on to the right lateral side of my hands rest on my right chest during sleep. It is relieved upon removing the hand or changes in position.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Well, that change in the intensity of pain on changing posture suggests more of a musculoskeletal means of muscle and bone-related pain. I suggest you see your general physician for a physical examination, and share his or her findings, as I can be able to guide you more specifically. Meanwhile, use the medications as I have advised. I hope things will go well from now onwards.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
