Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been experiencing pain in my upper abdomen and the left side of my stomach for the past three days. I have frequent sharp pains that are extremely uncomfortable to handle. I also have a sore throat and keep getting headaches. I am currently taking Prozac. What could be the cause of this condition? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

The cause of your condition could be acidity or gastritis. Do you have nausea, bloating, burping, pain during food intake, sour feelings in the throat, or chest burning? If present, they are indicative of gastritis. I suggest the following steps:

  1. Avoid consuming fatty, oily, and spicy food.

  2. Walk after having food instead of taking rest.

  3. Have multiple small meals instead of heavy meals.

  4. Maintain regular sleep habits and avoid stress.

  5. Eat lots of green leafy vegetables and fruits.

  6. Avoid smoking and alcohol.

I suggest the following medications. Consult a specialist doctor, and take these medications with their consent.

  1. Take tablet Pan DSR 40 mg (Pantoprazole and Domperidone) or Esomeprazole and Domperidone combination drug before breakfast once a day for two weeks.

  2. If not adequately relieved, then you should take syrup Sucral O (Sucralfate and Oxetacaine) or Gelusil (Aluminum hydroxide, Magnesium hydroxide, and Simethicone) two teaspoons three times a day for a week.

  3. For immediate pain relief, you can have antispasmodics like the tablet Dicyclomine 20 mg or Hyoscyamine 10 mg whenever needed up to three times a day.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
