Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from gum recession. I visited the dentist but the doctor said that gum grafting is not possible. Is there any other option?

Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. Bharat Joshi

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

See grafting is done for class 1 and 2 in Miller's classification. Beyond that the prognosis becomes poor. Other options are removable partial dentures or implants. However, if you can share the clinical picture with me I can suggest the best treatment with a good prognosis.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What is other treatment except grafting?

Answered by Dr. Bharat Joshi

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

After oral prophylaxis, if the tooth is stable you can go for a desensitizing paste. However, if there is mobility you need to undergo extraction and get replaced with FPD. The implant will not be stable. The restoration could not be done due to tooth morphology. However, if the pain is unbearable you can go for root canal treatment.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What is extraction and FPD implant?

Answered by Dr. Bharat Joshi

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Extraction means the removal of a tooth. FPD means fixed partial denture or in other words artificial fixed tooth. A removable partial denture is not recommended for your age. Implant is single tooth placement but bone height is not sufficient for it.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

How many days will it take for the overall procedure?

Answered by Dr. Bharat Joshi

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It depends on the procedure you take. For FPD 3 to 5 sittings and 4 to 5 days including laboratory work. But it will start after 15 days of extraction and that too after good healing.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
