Why is my penis skin flaking off while masturbating?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

When my penis is erect, and I masturbate, I have noticed that there is some flaky skin between the glans ring and the circumcision stitch mark. While masturbating, this flaky skin tends to come off like dust.

I do not have itching, burning, or inflammation, nothing like that, and even a circumcision was done two years back. I am married, and during sex, I do not feel any pain; it is very comfortable without any issues.

Please guide.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

It is most likely a candida infection, which is a type of fungal infection. For general precautions, avoid using any antiseptic washes or soaps for cleaning. Instead, use plain water.

For your current condition, please get a blood test done. You can do an HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin) test.

At this stage, there is no need for any oral medication. Instead, apply Ketostar (2% Ketoconazole and 1% Zinc Pyrithione) cream twice daily to the affected area for three weeks. Continue to use it regularly, even if the condition resolves earlier. Although sometimes a mild steroid may be necessary, we will start the treatment with just the antifungal.

You can follow up after three weeks.

I hope this clarifies your doubts.

Thank you.
