Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 19 years old and will be turning 20 in seven months. I think I may have stunted my growth and could be suffering from growth hormone deficiency. I have had an irregular sleep schedule since I was young and often slept late, almost every day during puberty. I still have sleep problems today and often sleep late. My dad is 5.5 feet tall, my mom is 5.4 feet tall, and my brothers are 6 and 6.2 feet tall, while I am 5.5 feet tall. My bone density has been very low, and I recently started taking calcium. I have also had a poor diet since I was young. I also have skinny wrists, excess fat around my waist, acne, and dark circles under my eyes. After researching growth hormone deficiency symptoms online, I believe I may have this condition. I am wondering if I can correct these issues and if I should visit a doctor. Can I still reach my potential height?
Please advise.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
While it is concerning that you may have experienced growth issues and sleep problems, self-diagnosis through online resources is not recommended. It is essential to consult with a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or endocrinologist, who can evaluate your symptoms and medical history thoroughly. They can perform appropriate tests and provide an accurate diagnosis. Growth hormone deficiency can have various causes, and early intervention is crucial for optimal treatment outcomes. Your doctor may also consider factors like your family history, diet, and sleep patterns to determine if there are other underlying issues contributing to your growth and development concerns.
Remember, seeking professional help is the best way to address your health concerns and receive appropriate guidance for your specific situation
I hope this information is helpful to you.
