This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have gum swelling, bleeding and covered teeth.

What is the reddish structure?

What is the issue?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern.

The gum inflammation (swelling) and bleeding signify a gum infection surrounding your prosthetic teeth that has been fixed. The issue here could be food lodgement under the poorly fitting prosthetic teeth. Unfortunately, this is not the kind of infection that can be managed at home with over-the-counter medicines.

Kindly visit your nearest dentist to get the infection cleaned and treated. Once the infection is cleaned at the dental office, the gums heal within the next three days.

1. Brush twice a day, and use a saline water mouth rinse twice daily.

2. Avoid hot and spicy food till this settles.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
