Can hair straightening cause severe hair loss?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from severe hair fall issues due to hair straightening. What to do? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. I understand your concern. Hairfall is commonly seen after undergoing such hair procedures. In hair straightening, the original keratin bonds of the hair are broken and rearranged, damaging the actual structure. This leads to hair shedding starting around four to six weeks after the procedure and could last for about 11 to 12 weeks. So I suggest you to use supportive hair serums containing Capixyl and Procapil. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply. How can I take care of my hair? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Hair loss is reversible. So I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below. Take tablet Hairbless (riboflavin, vitamin B3, and biotin) once daily after lunch for one month. Use Mintop (Minoxidil) pro hair serum. Apply 1 ml twice daily on the scalp and massage for two to three minutes for two months. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
