Hi,
My 6-year-old son tripped over the mat and fell from the stairs. I immediately took him to the emergency room. He had minor bruises, and first aid was done, but I doubt if he has hit his head against the coffee table. I forgot to tell my doctor that day, but my son says he has no pain in his head. Can there be a blood clot? He was conscious when he fell, with no vomiting and other symptoms. I just want to get it diagnosed at the earliest. I have fixed an appointment for next week, but I am very anxious about it, and this anxiety is not letting me sleep. Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I suggest you watch for the following-
1. Any lethargy.
2. Multiple episodes of vomiting.
3. Convulsions or refusal to feed over 24 hours to 48 hours from injury.
If no such problems occur, you need not worry.
Blood clots are usually symptomatic very fast. If at all there was a blood clot, the child should have been symptomatic by now.
An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain (plain plus contrast) can be done to rule it out immediately if you are so anxious.
Thank you.
