Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a question. I often get a very intense headache when I do a fairly strenuous exercise. I feel that it is getting worse now. It is so severe that I have to stop exercising and sit down for five minutes. The pain is often present in one spot around the temple. Is this something serious? Should I get an MRI scan done or is it not required? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We are elated to have you onboard at icliniq.

I would like to know further details about your problem. Please answer the following questions:

  1. Since when did you start having such headaches?
  2. In which areas of the head do you feel the headache? From where does it start?
  3. What kind of headache is it? Is it heavy, throbbing, stretching, bursting, shooting type of pain, or electric current-like pain? Or is it of some other kind?
  4. Is it severe, moderate, or mild?
  5. Is the headache episodic or persistent? If it is an episodic headache, then for how long does one episode last (from onset to complete relief without medication)?
  6. How frequent are these headache episodes before and now? How many times in a week does it occur?
  7. Do you have any vomiting or feeling of vomiting, watering from the eyes, redness in the eyes, or nasal congestion during headache?
  8. Have you noticed any trigger factors for this headache?
  9. How is your sleep?
  10. How is your day-to-day mood?
  11. Have you ever undergone an investigation for this headache like taking an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scan?
  12. Are you taking any medications for your headache?

Please reply to the above-mentioned questions so that I can guide you further.

I wish you good health.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

Kindly do an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the brain, and get an ophthalmology reference for refraction, intraocular pressure, and fundus.

Differential diagnosis

The differential diagnosis could be short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache (SUNCT) or vasculitis antibodies.

Regarding follow up

Kindly revert with the above-mentioned information for further judgement.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
