Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have a question about external hemorrhoids. I might have one near the opening of my anus. There is a lump there. It seems to be going to the side of my rectal opening, and I was wondering if that was normal. As I read online, they generally do not move.
I do not have any pain except when I clench or touch it. It is hard, but it feels rubbery on the top of it; there is no blood in the stool or from it. It is in skin color but has a slight blueness to it. I am 26 years old and have not taken any medication.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a lump near your anus. It is important to note that while self-diagnosis can be helpful, it is always best to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis.
Based on your description, you may have an external hemorrhoid. External hemorrhoids are veins that are located around the anus and can become swollen and form a lump. Hemorrhoids can cause discomfort, especially if they become thrombosed, which means that a blood clot has formed inside the vein. Hemorrhoids are common and can be caused by a variety of factors, such as
Constipation.
Straining during bowel movements.
Increased pressure on the veins in the anus due to pregnancy.
Obesity.
Sitting for long periods of time.
However, it is important to keep in mind that other conditions can cause lumps in the area around the anus, such as
Skin tags.
Anal fissures.
Anal warts.
So it is best to have a doctor examine you and provide a proper diagnosis.
You can relieve any discomfort by taking
Over-the-counter pain relievers.
Soaking in warm baths.
Using a sitz bath.
Apply a cold compress to the affected area.
You can also help prevent hemorrhoids by
Eating a high-fiber diet.
Staying hydrated.
Avoid straining during bowel movements.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
