What causes pain during defecation?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 22-year-old individual with a weight of 260 pounds and a height of 6 feet. I am experiencing significant pain and prolonged straining during defecation. I am not currently taking any medication. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and I am here to assist you.

Concerning your symptoms, it appears that you may have hemorrhoids (piles). Do you have a history of hard stool, blood during defecation, or adequate water intake? I suspect you are exhibiting features of internal hemorrhoids. Please undergo a rectal exam, and reply with the results. Meanwhile, I would suggest you follow the below recommendations:

  1. Take syrup liquid paraffin 20ml orally three times a day.
  2. Anusol rectal suppository (zinc oxide, bismuth oxide, bismuth subgallate, and Peru balsam) - Insert twice a day.
  3. Consume a diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
  4. Ensure you drink 11 cups of water daily.

I hope these suggestions are helpful.

Thank you.
