Is my genital lump a herpes blister or just a pimple?

Hi doctor,

I have had HSV-1 on my genitals for almost a decade. I recently had an outbreak, and my partner and I thought we were clear and had unprotected sex. I took 1000 mg of Valacyclovir for a week to clear it up. But now I am worried, I found an old closed scab or a small lump under the skin. How likely is he to get this?

And how do I know if this is just an old pimple or an old blister?
