Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

This morning I woke up with a little bump on my outer lower lip. Last night I applied chapstick because my lips were feeling dry. I think these bumps are weather-related. I just finished healing from some strong chest congestion, two days ago. It tingles and bothers me. What to do?

Please help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query.

I went through your image (the attachment removed to protect the patient's identity).

It seems you are having herpes labialis. It is an Infection of the oral mucosa seen in young adults due to HSV (herpes simplex virus) type 1 or rarely type 2. A primary episode usually starts 2 to 10 days post-exposure with prodromal symptoms of burning, discomfort, or itching with fever and malaise. I suggest you take a tablet of Acyclovir (antiviral) 400 mg three times a day and 5 % Acyclovir ointment for topical application twice daily for 5 days after consulting a specialist doctor.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
