Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have had a query related to my father's high blood pressure for the past six days. He is taking the tablet Avesar at night to control his blood pressure, as recommended by our doctor. However, he suffers from the side effects of continuous diarrhea and dizziness. We have also done his lipid profile test and blood test, the results of which show that his cholesterol level is slightly high while the blood profile is perfectly normal. I will be very grateful to you if you can suggest some medication for him to control his high blood pressure without the mentioned side effects.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Tablet Azilsartan medoxomil is a combination of two types of antihypertensives and a Tablet of angiotensin II receptor blocker; one of the components is very high. I would suggest a single drug like the tablet Telmisartan 40 mg twice daily and see the blood pressure response before adding one more drug. Continuous diarrhea causes fluid loss and, hence, giddiness. We have to rule out any infective gastroenteritis and give him good fluid intake.
I hope this helps.
Please revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
