Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 65-year-old woman with high sugar levels and recently had a slight fever. I did a CBC test today, and my ESR is extremely high at 130 mm/hour, and my leukocyte count is 19600/microliters. I have a fever for three to four days and am on anti-bacterial medications. What is the cause?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I can understand your concern.

You do have an infection in your body. You will need to do a urine test, chest x-ray, and other blood tests to determine the cause. The infection is high as TLC (total leukocyte count) is 19,000/microliters, and you would need to start on antibiotics immediately. Also, you will need to control your blood sugar if it is not under control.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
