Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My height is six feet two inches, and my weight is 189.6 pounds. I was exposed to HIV last year-end. I had sexual intercourse with a sex worker, but unfortunately for me, the condom broke.
Approximately two to three times after exposure, I developed a runny nose. Since it is the winter season, I am unsure whether this is a common cold or a symptom of HIV. I also experienced a mild sore throat and mouth discomfort. All the symptoms disappeared within a week, but the sore throat returned briefly before going away again.
I never experienced a severe headache or fever. I did not have chills, nor did I lose my appetite or weight. I had mild night sweats that lasted only a few minutes. My bed was not covered in sweat. I simply felt hot internally, so I removed my clothes, and after a few minutes, I started feeling cold again. This occurred only two times and did not happen again.
I had loose stools for just one time. It was not severe; I went to the bathroom twice, and that was all. I do not think I had any rashes. I noticed some spots on my chest, but they have disappeared. Sometimes I feel weak, but I am unsure if it is due to working too hard or if it is a sign of infection.
I cannot determine whether my lymph nodes are swollen. I cannot see any swelling when I look in the mirror, and other people do not notice it, but I can feel something when I touch it with my hand.
At present, I have dark spots on my face. I feel like my face is shrinking. I also experience the same sensation in my legs, which sometimes causes discomfort. I will try to take a picture and upload it to this site. Could this be an HIV infection?
Please guide.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for posting your query.
If you have been exposed, you should have received hepatitis and tetanus vaccinations immediately after exposure, preferably within twenty-four hours, along with post-exposure prophylaxis.
HIV does not manifest its symptoms so quickly.
There is an incubation period, and if the body allows the virus to multiply, the viral load in the blood increases, and symptoms begin to appear.
I advise you to take some tests. Please do not worry; simply follow up with the reports.
The recommended tests include:
Antigen-antibody test for HIV.
HIV viral load test.
Please let me know if you want some help.
Thank you.
