Why do I have tonsillitis and fever after protected sex?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been involved in one-time sex with a sex worker. The sex was protected. However, after 15 days I developed tonsillitis and fever. Does this indicate the risk of HIV transmission? What to do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to iCliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

The chances of transmission of HIV in your case are nil. You can allay fears of HIV. I do not see any need for HIV tests. However, you can go for an HIV antibody test to allay your anxiety.

I hope this helps.

Thanks and regards.
