Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My brother is 35 years old. He has been taking HIV medications for the past three years. He is worried that he has to take this medication for his whole life. Though he does not face any severe health issues due to HIV, he is feeling anxious that he will die soon leaving his family alone. I want to see him feeling relaxed. May I know the advanced treatments available to manage this HIV? Can it be cured? Kindly help us.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
Since there is currently no cure for HIV (human immunodeficiency virus), modern antiretroviral therapy has greatly advanced, allowing people to live long and healthy lives with the virus.
With consistent treatment, the viral load can become undetectable, significantly reducing the risk of transmitting HIV to others and improving quality of life. Research is exploring potential cures, such as gene therapy and immunotherapies, but these are still in the experimental stages.
Encourage your brother to discuss his concerns with his healthcare provider, who can offer support, manage his treatment, and help reduce anxiety surrounding the condition.
I hope this helps.
Take care.
