Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been getting hives on my arms and legs every few days, so itchy and annoying. They just appear for no reason and then go away. Antihistamines help a bit, but I am always tired from them. Someone said it could be autoimmune or related to a food allergy. I did not change anything in my diet. Is there a blood test or treatment that can stop these from coming back?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
As per your description of symptoms, you are suffering from acute spontaneous urticaria. It could be due to causes such as helminthic infections, drug reactions, contact allergens (like perfumes, body lotions or sprays, detergents, etc.), or food additives (like artificial colouring or flavouring agents and preservatives). It is premature to label it as autoimmune.
As a first step, you may take tablet Albendazole 400 mg (milligrams) as a single dose after dinner today and repeat the same single dose after one week, along with tablet Fexofenadine hydrochloride 180 mg once per day after breakfast for one week.
Apply coconut oil all over the body half an hour before bath daily for one week.
Follow up through video consultation after one week.
Avoid dairy products, avoid direct sun exposure, avoid tight-fitting garments, wear 100 percent cotton garments, and double rinse clothes while washing and sun dry them inside-out.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
