Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 32 years old and am concerned about a health issue. When I consulted a doctor, she advised there was nothing to worry about and suggested it might be due to vitamin D deficiency or hypothyroidism, as I am currently taking medication for these conditions. However, I have several questions I would like to ask you:
What do you mean by a precancerous condition?
Why do these conditions occur, and how can we prevent them from becoming cancerous lesions?
Will all precancerous lesions turn into cancer?
I have had a lump in my left breast for the past year that causes dull pain before my periods. Could this be related to the numbness I experienced in the last two fingers on the same side?
Is there a risk that this lump could turn into cancer?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
A precancerous condition refers to abnormal changes in cells or tissues that have the potential to develop into cancer if left untreated. Causes can include genetic mutations, environmental factors, or chronic inflammation.
To protect against progression, early detection through regular screenings and lifestyle modifications is key. Not all precancerous lesions will turn into cancer, but monitoring and appropriate management are essential. Your symptoms warrant evaluation by a healthcare professional, although they may be due to factors other than cancer, such as vitamin D deficiency or hypothyroidism. It is important to follow up with your doctor for further assessment and guidance tailored to your specific situation.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
