Can mononucleosis transmit through kissing?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My partner had mononucleosis two years ago. Three days after we kissed, I contracted a sore throat with a cough and runny nose, but I also had been swimming the day before. The sore throat lasted for two weeks and I am concerned. I also had rashes on my hands but those have been coming and going since before I met him, and I have never kissed anyone before him.

I have looked at my throat and my tonsils seem to be a little swollen. My partner said that he has not had any symptoms in two years and none of his previous partners have been infected.

Do I have to worry? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

You do not have to worry about anything. It seems to be an upper respiratory tract infection or sore throat. It may be due to a change in season or the consumption of cold drinks. It is not related to mononucleosis.

I suggest you gargle with betadine solution twice a day, take steam inhalation three times a day, and the following medications. Consult with your physician and take the medications only with their consent.

  1. Tablet. Pantoprazole 40 mg once daily on an empty stomach for three days.
  2. Tablet. Zerodol-P (Aceclofenac and Paracetamol) twice daily after food for three days.
  3. Tablet. Zathrin (Azithromycin) 500 mg once daily for three days.

Send me a follow-up after three days.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
