Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My age is 23 years and I am a student. Since the past one year, I find my handwriting to be abnormal. In other words, I am not able to write in a way that I used to before. I earlier thought that this was because of lack of constant practice. However, even after continuously writing for one or two months I am finding it very difficult to write legibly. My handwriting used to be good but now I am almost scribbling. Also, I am finding it very difficult to write in a legible and understandable manner and end up straining too much. I find my colleagues being able to write faster but I am very very slow; it was not like this earlier. Is this a nervous issue or is it normal and temporary age-related issue? Please suggest me a remedy.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. In most cases, this is normal. There is nothing to worry as such. However, I would recommend you go for vitamin B12 levels and thyroid test. Get the tests done and write back with results. I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for your prompt response. I am very sorry for the late reply. I have taken the tests you had recommended (thyroid and vitamin B12) and I am hereby attaching the test report for your kind perusal. Kindly please let me know your response to the same.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. I have gone through the files (attachment removed to protect patient identity). As per your reports, everything is normal. Now I need to know: Any complaints from the bank that your signature has differed? Do you have difficulty in writing and holding things? Any tremors?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks again for the prompt response. Yes, you are right. I have difficulty in signing. Every time, I have to strain in order to sign but still, the signature does not come out like it is supposed to. Once the bank rejected the signature. I have difficulty in writing but not in holding the pen. Once a person asked me if I was left handed (I am right handed) seeing me struggling to write. I have a good handwriting but I have to struggle a lot to write and it would still be much much slower than others. I used to be able to write faster when I was younger. Yes doctor, when I lift utensils from the dining table, it shakes a lot. Also when I apply a little pressure in my hand it seems to vibrate. It also happens at the start of an exercise (both legs and hands). I can understand if it is at the end. Also, in other day-to-day activities that involves applying pressure in my hand, like tearing bread, etc.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. It looks like you have intention tremor. My recommendations in such cases is a medicine like Propranolol and Clonazepam. You should see your doctor about my opinion as these are prescription medicines. I would recommend tablet Ciplar LA 40(Propranolol) twice daily and tablet Clonafit 0.5 (Clonazepam) at night. Consult your specialist doctor discuss with him or her and start taking the medicines with their consent. I hope it helps you.
