Thank you for writing and I understand your concern.

Kindly answer some questions so I could help you properly.

  1. Do have any chances for pregnancy?

  2. Does this have happened before?

  3. Have you done any investigations for this?

  4. Have you taken any medicines for this?

  5. Are there any clots along with bleeding?

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor.

Thank you for your reply.

There is no chance of pregnancy. I did not check as well. After moving to another country one year ago, my periods got irregular but this has never happened before. One time there was a delay of one and a half months and then I had periods. But this time the period started and now I am having normal bleeding every day for the past two days. It does not look like brown or dark blood instead it looks like fresh blood. I do not have clots, but something slimy comes along with the blood. I have not taken any medications till now.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If you are sure about your pregnancy then this could be because of endometrial hyperplasia, endometriosis, or could be stress induced.

As in every menstrual cycle, a layer of cells forms inside the uterus and gets shed during menstruation and the cycle repeats. Since you have not got your periods for 45 days, the layer got thick and it caused more bleeding.

I would suggest you take the tablet Trenaxa MF (Tranexamic acid and Mefenamic acid) twice daily for three to five days. If the bleeding stops you can discontinue the medicine even before that.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take medications as prescribed by them.

I would also suggest you do a USG (ultrasonogram) of the pelvis, thyroid profile, and CBC (complete blood count) to rule out any pathology.

Hope this information helps you.

Feel free to ask further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor.

Thanks for replying.

Just one more thing, can I get this medication without a prescription or will I have to consult someone for it?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

In India, you can buy it without any prescription. I do not know about the UK, but you can ask the chemist once if they can give you one without a prescription. Trenaxa MF contains Tranexamic acid and Mefenamic acid. If this combination is not available I suggest you take tranexamic acid 500 mg.

Consult your doctor, talk to them, and then take the medications.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
