Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been having stomach issues for years now. I have visited a doctor in the past and had blood and stool tests done. In the end, he believed it was IBS and said if I wanted to be certain I should visit a specialist. It is neither better nor worse these days and only really affects me after takeout, coffee, or tea. Should I still try going to a specialist or just try working around the IBS on my own via diet?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
While dietary changes can help manage IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) symptoms, it is important to understand that IBS is a complex condition that may require a more comprehensive approach to treatment. A specialist can help you develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medications, lifestyle modifications, and dietary changes based on the severity of your symptoms and other factors. It is also important to note that other conditions can have similar symptoms to IBS, such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), celiac disease, or lactose intolerance. A specialist can help rule out these conditions and provide a proper diagnosis. If you are still experiencing symptoms despite dietary changes, it may be worth seeing a specialist to help manage your symptoms and potentially diagnose any underlying conditions. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.
Thank you.
