Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing fatigue, slight light-headedness, dizziness, blurred vision, and nausea for the past three days. The first day, I woke up with a pounding migraine that lasted the whole day until the next morning. I have also noticed that I am not bleeding normally during my periods. However, there is very little bleeding (enough for me to use a tampon), and my vaginal discharge has also been yellow-colored. I am currently on a birth control pill called Cerazette (Desogestrel). The problem I described was sudden except for the vaginal discharge and discoloration. I believe this has happened before with the usage of birth control pills. However, the migraine was sudden. I assume this is a side effect of the birth control pills. I suspected dehydration and will do a pregnancy test tomorrow morning to be safe. I would love a professional opinion on this matter. I have also been experiencing slight stomach discomfort.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your history and understand your concerns. However, as per your description, these symptoms could be due to hormonal imbalances caused by pills. Once you stop the pill, periods usually resume within a month, but sometimes, menstruation takes time, depending on how long you are on the birth control pill and its type. Vaginal discharge and headache could be due to hormonal changes and may indicate the beginning of menstruation. Drink a lot of warm water, and take a soft diet; lifestyle changes are required. Also, get your pregnancy test done, as you are not bleeding properly. Feel free to ask if you have any queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have to wait for an update on the pregnancy status as I will do the test only tomorrow morning. I also wanted to ask that as I did not ovulate due to the pill, why I did not get my period at all? I am concerned when I have these symptoms. I am also sexually active, so I trust you when you say it could be a hormonal imbalance, as it began quite suddenly.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I am happy to hear that my advice is beneficial to you. Yes, I will wait for your reply regarding the pregnancy status. However, there is no chance of pregnancy in your case. The vaginal discharge and migraine are hormonal imbalances due to the birth control pills. Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have taken a pregnancy test, and the result came out negative. The bleeding has also seemed to reduce today. I was involved in unprotected sexual intercourse last evening, so I hope this will not further impact me. Thanks for all your help, and I look forward to hearing back from you soon.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your history and understand your concerns; however, you are actively involved in unprotected sex and want to avoid pregnancy. Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. I advise you to take one tablet of i-pill 1.5 mg (Levonorgestrel) as early as possible after unprotected sex (maximum within 72 hours). Menstrual irregularities are the side effects of the pill.

Hope this found useful. Feel free to ask for more information.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
