How to manage skin burns?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I used Sulphur flower powder as a mask and then mixed it with Aqueous cream BP to use it as a face moisturizer. Now my skin got burnt because I was also exposed to the sun. I am currently using pure soap and Aqueous cream BP with baby oil and Vaseline. I have marks and scars. How can I heal my face?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

It appears to be irritant contact dermatitis or photodermatosis.

The causes of these conditions include:

  1. Contact with irritant chemicals.

  2. Photosensitivity to sun.

  3. Allergy.

I advise you to do the following:

  1. Avoid skin products that sting or burn on application or cause breakouts.

  2. Avoid known triggers.

  3. Wash your face with Dermadew face wash twice daily for two weeks.

  4. Apply Lactocalamine face lotion two to three times daily for 10 days.

  5. Use Photostable sunscreen daily at 9 am-12 pm-3 pm. (use sunscreen 20 min before going outdoors in the sun)

Attach a clinical image to assess so that I can guide you further.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
