What is the treatment for non-obstructing kidney stones?

My nephrologist checked me for a hernia and it was absent. Then he suspected I had kidney stones. So I went for an ultrasound, which reported a 6 mm nonobstructing stone at midpole in the right kidney and a bunch of small ones on the left. Despite this finding, my nephrologist suggested that I simply drink water and wait, implying that the stones may pass on their own. He told me to see him after six months. Told him my symptoms were still ongoing and he gave me a course of nerve medication, thinking this was all related to nerve damage from exercising on a Peloton bike. The steroid, some type of Prednisone pack type thing does nothing and I still have the same symptoms. I have been reading online and talking to a close family member whose doctor says that a 6mm nonobstructing stone can and is probably affecting me. What is your opinion? I have an appointment this week with a PCP to get another opinion. This is bothering me mentally and I want to know what a urologist thinks. Kindly suggest.

My symptoms are nausea, and pain in the right groin, thigh, hip, testicle, and the tip of my penis. I also have lower right back pain in the area of the kidney. Pain is not constant, it sometimes comes and goes and usually radiates. Post urine dribble and hesitation urinating sometimes. Sometimes I can feel a little pain in my right testicle and groin area when urinating. Pain is not present all day, it comes and goes. I cannot see any blood in the urine, but the lab sees moderate. I drank almost three to four liters of water yesterday and felt a little better than I have. Again this is all sporadic throughout the day. Never constant nor all at once. Medical history includes kidney disease that has been cured and membranous neuropathy. I have high blood pressure and had a pulmonary embolism 15 years ago because of kidney disease. CBC and metabolic panel is normal levels including bun. I have attached the last urinalysis a week ago and an ultrasound where they see an unobstructed kidney stone. The urinalysis I took a few weeks prior had more blood “moderate” in urine. I took another last week and it went down to low. Again CBC and blood are all normal in range levels, urinalysis is only one off. Negative on urine culture. Took STD tests all negative.

What is your thought on ultrasound? I think an unobstructed kidney stone is breaking havoc on me. The nephrologist says the kidney is doing good and drinking more water will make it pass. But my symptoms are the same. He does not appear concerned about the 6mm in the kidney midpole. But then again, he does not care about anything unless it deals with my blood pressure or kidney disease and since my bun is good he thinks I am good to go. Attached files. Kindly suggest.
