Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 26 years old, I broke my foot almost two years ago. Now all of a sudden it looks the same it is swollen again and hurts a lot. What could be the cause?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern. This is mostly an ankle sprain, you need to get x-rays done and follow as below,

1. Keep it elevated.

2. Apply air cast ankle sturrup orthosis. (you can wear shoes over it too).

3. Apply ice thrice daily for two days.

Take the following medicines:

1. Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg 1-0-1 X 10 days after food.

2. Tablet Rabeprazole 20 mg 1-0-1 X 10 days before food.

3. Tablet Shelcal 500 mg 1-0-1 X 30 days before food.

4. Tablet vitamin D 60 K units once daily for 10 days, then for 11 months.

Take this tablet only if you are not allergic to them. If you are asthmatic do not take it. I hope I cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.

Investigations to be done

X-ray of the affected ankle joint - AP and lateral views.

Probable diagnosis

Ankle sprain LCL - not investigated
