The blood test that measures the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood is called a lipid profile or lipid panel. It is used to determine the risk for cardiovascular and other diseases. It measures the amount of good cholesterol (HDL) and bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood.
