Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from gastritis past year. I have done endoscopy and Helicobacter pylori therapy, but still, l have gastritis. Is it possible that my stomach lining is permanently damaged? Will I never be able to eat like before?

My problem started when I tested positive for covid last year. I was not vaccinated, and I had symptoms like heartburn and vomiting. Is it possible that the virus has damaged my stomach lining?

I have been taking gastritis medications for more than a year. I am scared that I will never be able to eat like before. Kindly help.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

The following are the medication that I took.

1) I was under the Helicobacter pylori antibiotic kit after the endoscopy for 15 days.

2) For one month, I took capsule Deltone 60 mg, tablet Famocid 10 mg, tablet Lesuride, and tablet Depsol.

3) I took capsule Deltone 30 mg and tablet Lesuride twice daily the following month.

4) I did not take medicines for one month and was controlled with bland food.

5) I experienced vomiting, pain, and burning sensation. So I was prescribed tablet Lesuride for four months.

6) I had burping and was given tablet Sompraz 40 mg and tablet Digeraft for one month.

7) Then I was not under medications for one month and avoided fried items and a non-vegetarian diet.

8) Currently, I am on tablet Sompraz 40 mg and tablet Digeraft, but I still feel pain occasionally in the epigastric region.

I hope this is fine, doctor. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

There appears to be some damage to the stomach lining caused by the covid virus. Possibly using many antibiotics for a prolonged time has aggravated the problem.

Now the gut biome is deranged.

I suggest you concentrate on your diet. Try eating small frequent meals.

1. Eat a ripe banana which is a good source of probiotics.

2. Take boiled rice with curd and boiled potato.

3. Eat boiled vegetables and fruits.

4. Take one boiled egg with breakfast.

5. Avoid spicy, fried, junk foods, and carbonated beverages. They will further derange the gut biome and aggravate the problem.

I also suggest the following medications.

  1. Take capsule Florastor (probiotic) 250 mg, one capsule daily after dinner for 30 days.
  2. I also suggest you stop tablet Digegraft if possible. However, please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Do you feel I should get another endoscopy? Can there be permanent damage? Kindly help.

Answered by Dr. J. N. Naidu

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

You need not do an endoscopy. I do not think there is permanent damage to the gastric lining. However, simple lifestyle changes can do wonders for better health.

Practice yoga & meditation, which will reduce your stress and cortisol levels and help you heal.

I suggest you take Saccharomyces boulardii 250 mg (probiotic) sachets, one sachet daily after dinner for 30 days. However, please consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
