Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I suffer from a tingling sensation in my leg due to spondylolisthesis in L4-L5. My doctor has prescribed Disperzyme tablets for this problem. Is this relevant to my problem?
Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I read your query and understand your concern.
Disperzyme (Bromelain, Trypsin, and Rutoside) can help in the initial five days of treatment, but I would advise you to follow my treatment for L4-L5 listhesis.
Avoid lifting heavy weights.
Avoid arching your back; instead, bend your knees to pick up something from the floor.
Avoid sitting for long hours.
Avoid two-wheeler rides.
Improve your posture while sitting.
Try to get up from your chair every 20 minutes, take a quick walk around, and then continue working. Always sit on a chair with back support.
Do not suddenly get up from a sleeping position. Instead, turn to the side and then get up.
Take bed rest if severe pain.
Do hot fermentations, locally over the affected area, at least twice daily.
Oxalgin gel (Diclofenac and Paracetamol) should be applied locally twice daily.
You need to take the following medicines,
Tablet Pregabalin (75 mg) once at bedtime for 10 days before food.
Tablet Ibuprofen (400 mg) morning and night for 10 days after food.
Tablet Rabeprazole (20 mg) morning and night for 10 days before food.
Tablet Shelcal (Calcium) (500 mg) morning and night for 30 days before food.
Tablet Vitamin D (60k units) once daily for 10 days, then once a month for 11 months.
Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent. Take these tablets only if you are not allergic to them. Do not take these tablets if you have bronchial asthma. Follow up immediately in case of any untoward reactions.
Do physiotherapy, back core strengthening exercises, and passive straight leg raising exercises. These exercises can be done initially under the supervision of a physiotherapist or learn to do at home. Start physiotherapy once the pain reduces. Only regular exercise can give results.
After the pain reduces, the following activities are good for you: Swimming, yoga, and walking.
Jogging, running, and weight-lifting may aggravate back problems.
Hope this answers your query.
Thank you.
