I am 66 years old and was recently diagnosed with MAC lung disease after a CT scan showed bronchiectasis and a positive sputum culture. I also have a chronic cough and have lost about 9 pounds in the last three months.

My doctor mentioned starting triple antibiotic therapy.

How long does this treatment usually last, and what side effects should I watch for?
Will this infection be completely cured, or can it come back?
Also, can I continue going for walks, or should I avoid outdoor air?
Is this condition contagious?
