How to come out of major depressive disorder?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having some disturbing thoughts in my mind. And I am afraid I will become out of control if I share this with anyone. But I need to make peace with my mind by getting an answer or solution. Medicine can control hormonal imbalances, but it would not answer. So, is there any way with anesthesia or any drug, where I can share my thoughts without getting anxious or hyperactive? Also, I do not want to remember whatever I said. I do not know what to do. I did not know if sharing would make it more serious or if I got it through alone. I just want to sleep for 10 days, wake up with a different mindset, or forget whatever is disturbing me. Is there any way?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your problem and situation. You seem to be under trauma. You can either share your problem with any tree. You just need to stand near any tree or plant and talk with it. So, it will help you to relax, and the tree will not be shared with anyone. You can just talk and record your thoughts and then delete them. You can also write down your thoughts in a journal or diary and then discard them. You have major depressive disorder due to stress. You can also follow the lifestyle below to deal with it. It will help you.

  1. You should do exercises daily for 30 to 45 minutes, like at least going for a walk.

  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts; just let it be.

  3. You should eat healthy, home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods.

  4. You must drink enough water.

  5. You should spend quality time with friends and family daily.

  6. You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills, language, or musical instruments.

  7. You should take seven to eight hours of sleep daily.

  8. You must avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.

  9. Live your life, do not just spend it, and be bold and confident.

  10. You can also do a video consultation with me and share your thoughts.

  11. You can also start medicine if you have severe trouble.

Investigations to be done:

  1. CBC (complete blood count).

  2. Thyroid profile.

  3. Vitamin D3.

  4. Vitamin B12.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for replying.

I have been staying at home for the last three years with no work. I was fully emotionally dependent on one friend. And whatever disturbing thought came to my mind, I used to share it with him. The more I share and discuss about those, the more it affects me. So, recently, I got a chance to get out of my room and went on a trip with friends. And, for the first time in a while, I felt like I was re-living my life. But he called me continuously and texted me. It made me feel like I could not live a normal life, and I have a different mindset. I cannot live without depending on or sharing my thoughts with him. So now I think everything has fallen apart. I just want to shout at him, and I feel so angry. He did not let me restart a new life. Is there any facility available where I can take a rest in the hospital with assisted drugs to make me sleep and put me on anesthesia for a while?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

You are trying to escape from your life and reality. It is not the solution to your problem. If you have a problem, then solve it. Do not be afraid of anyone. Keep faith in yourself. You must start medicine to deal with your problem. You can take the tablet Escitalopram 10 mg daily in the morning after breakfast and the tablet Clonazepam 0.5 mg for sleep disturbances.

Find a purpose or goal for your life. If your friend is not allowing you to live life as you want, then you must move on from him. You will find a better one in the future. Think about it. Do not stay in a toxic relationship.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
