Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I missed the first three pills of my Lillow- Levonorgestrel pack of birth control. This happened to me a few years ago, and I vaguely remember being told I could take two pills a day to catch up. Pill pack instructions are given, but I already messed that up by taking two pills yesterday. So my question is can I do the two pills a day method instead of the instructions on the pack? Is taking two pills a day safe? I understand I would need to use a backup method.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. I have gone through the details presented by you, and yes, no severe effects are noticed if a female takes two pills every day to make up for the missed dose. However, I would recommend that since you have missed the dose from the beginning itself, you may consider starting the pack with one pill and consider your commencement of the pack from that very day itself. If you are sexually active, then please take the help of an alternative birth control method, preferably a condom, for the first seven days of starting the pack.
