Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 23 years old and have been masturbating for seven years. I want to quit this habit permanently, but I find it challenging. Currently, I masturbate once a week, and I believe I may be addicted. Please guide how to overcome this habit. Also, I have masturbated for the past six years. Could this pose any problems for me in the future? Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
We feel glad that you reached out to us.
It is important to note that masturbation is a normal and common practice, with around ninety-five percent of males engaging in it. It serves as a way to experience sexual pleasure without a partner and has various potential benefits:
Stress relief.
Mood enhancement.
Improved sleep.
Prevention of depression (prolonged sadness) and anxiety (excessive worry).
Relaxation of the mind.
Alleviation of pain and muscle cramps.
Release of sexual tension.
Boost in confidence.
Enhancement of sexual experiences.
Better understanding of personal needs and desires.
In females, it can increase vaginal blood flow.
Engaging in masturbation a few times a week is generally not an issue. However, excessive frequency, more than two to three times a week, may lead to tiredness, reduced concentration, and a perceived sense of infertility. If you wish to reduce masturbation, I suggest to consider the following strategies:
Sex education.
Regular physical exercises.
Adjusting sleep patterns for better quality sleep.
Maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.
Structuring leisure time activities.
Exploring spiritual development.
Taking cold baths.
In case you experience fatigue or a decrease in strength, I suggest trying a capsule of Astymin forte (multivitamin) once in the morning and a tablet of Shelcal (calcium and vitamin D3) at night after meals for thirty days. Consult your doctor and take the medicines accordingly.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
