wer:

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

There is no safe or reliable way to completely stop an ongoing period just for one day at home. Once menstrual bleeding has started, the uterus is already shedding its lining. The flow can sometimes be reduced, but instantly stopping it until tomorrow night is usually not possible.

Some medications will reduce the flow, such as:

  • Tranexamic acid is a medicine that doctors use to reduce menstrual bleeding. It helps blood clot better inside the uterus, which makes the bleeding lighter.

  • The typical adult dose is 500 milligrams to 1,000 milligrams, taken three times a day during heavy bleeding for up to three to five days.

  • It may reduce bleeding but may not fully stop it, and it works better if started early in the period.

  • It should be avoided if there is a history of blood clots, stroke, or heart disease. This is the fastest medical option to make the flow lighter by tomorrow.

  • Doctors sometimes use Norethisterone or combined birth control pills to delay periods, but these must be started at least three days before bleeding begins.

  • These medicines will not stop a period that has already started yesterday or today.

  • Home remedies such as lemon juice, vinegar, and herbs do not have any medical effect.

  • Pain relievers like Ibuprofen may slightly reduce the flow but will not stop bleeding. Antibiotics are not useful in this situation.

  • Since complete stopping of bleeding is unlikely, practical steps include using super or overnight pads or a menstrual cup.

  • Ibuprofen 400 milligrams can be taken every eight hours with food to reduce cramps and may slightly reduce bleeding.

  • If available, Tranexamic Acid remains the best option to quickly lighten the flow.

Urgent medical care is needed if one pad is soaked every hour, if very large clots are being passed, or if there is dizziness or weakness, as these signs indicate heavy bleeding that requires medical attention.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Thank you.
