Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18 years old. I have problems with my hormones and menstrual cycle. So, my prolactin was high and doctors found a microadenoma on my pituitary gland, and on control, an MRI tumor did not exist. Then, they found mild hyperinsulinemia. Triglycerides are normal. Also, I have abdominal fat. X-ray and ultrasound of my adrenal gland and abdomen were normal. Other hormones are normal. Blood sugar is normal, glucose intolerance test is normal too.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I just read your query and from what you have mentioned it appears that you have microprolactinoma, high DHEA levels, and amenorrhea. Well, your amenorrhea could be due to the underlying hyperprolactinemia which takes some time to return to normal. Secondly, you have insulin resistance as suggested by hyperinsulinemia and that is possible because of the stress that your body is currently undergoing. Also possibly you might have PCOS which can be detected by a pelvic ultrasound. PCOS is also responsible for amenorrhea, high DHEA, and insulin resistance. Give yourself some time for your body to come back to normal. Do not stress over it as stress also can contribute to amenorrhea.

Hope this helps.
