I have spotting. Is this an early pregnancy sign?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I want to know if I am experiencing implantation bleeding or period spotting. Based on the application I use to track my periods, I am supposed to get my period next week. But, I started experiencing spotting today and usually, I never get my period early as I am always late. I also do not use contraceptives, and my last period was on the 21st of last month.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

According to your description, it is not implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding occurs at six to eight weeks of pregnancy; it is more of ovulation spotting, which sometimes may occur, and it is normal; nothing needs to be worried about.

Hope this information helps you. Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
